CRAWTON, SANDNESS

The house
Crawton, built at the turn of the last century, was one of the first two storey dwellings to be built in Shetland. It retains much of the original character with modern, comfortable furniture & fittings. There are 2 large bedrooms (double, twin) and one small single room. It has a large bathroom, utility area, kitchen/dining room and, a comfortable lounge area.  The house is heated by electric storage heaters but also has wood/peat and coal burning stoves for the ‘real fire’ enthusiasts.

Around the house
The house is situated in a peaceful area and is not overlooked. It has sea views to the north and west. The area is ideal for walking and fishing with good beaches nearby. A small ‘Geo’ (bay) lies at the end of the road where seals are often resting on the rocks.

Sandness
Situated on the most westerly part of the mainland of Shetland, Sandness lies in a remote location and has good infrastructure with easy access to larger villages and amenities. The nearest shop is situated in Walls about 10 mins drive. Lerwick is 30 miles away or a 40 minute drive. The only bright lights you will see here are from the Aurora Borealis or 'Northern Lights’..
